A Message from Dr Sarah Hardy
Hello, and welcome to my website.
Over the years that I have been working with children, young people and their families I have recognised the importance of involving parents in supporting and helping their child. Many children can find life hard, they can struggle with change or have difficulty expressing their feelings in an appropriate way. Some children can show challenging behaviour or have problems processing information. Every child is unique and has their own individual strengths and weaknesses and at times their responses can be confusing, making it difficult for parents to know how to respond. A child's behaviour and reaction (whether positive or more challenging) can impact on the whole family and this can feel overwhelming. I believe the key to support and change is via an understanding of the possible reasons for the child's response and behaviour. This can be explored in "The Psychology Surgery," by talking together about the issues and what has been tried to enable the identification of possible causes and recommendations.
Being a parent can be difficult and knowing what to do and if/when to seek additonal support can be confusing.Ultimately, however, the parent knows their child well, is aware of what they have experienced in their lives and will be with them as they move into adulthood. Consequently, the parent has a unique opportunity to suppport their child and make a lasting positive difference to their child's future happiness and potential.
In the past I have provided consultation appointments to professionals via a "Psychology Surgery*", but I now would like to be able to offer this opportunity to parents. The Psychology Surgery is aimed at parents with school-aged children. If you would like to make a parent consultation appointment via The Psychology Surgery please see the information below and contact me on pscy.hardy@gmail.com
I look forward to speaking with you soon.

What and Where?
The Psychology Surgery is a one hour consultation appointment that is arranged over the internet for parents with Dr Sarah Hardy, Clinical Psychologist to talk about their child's behaviour or difficulties.
What is The Psychology Surgery?
How?
The Parent Psychology Surgery gives parents the opportunity to talk about their concerns about their child. This may relate to how their child is behaving, feeling or expressing their emotions. It may be about behaviour that has been happening for a long time or something that has just been noticed. It may also include reference to the child's development, how they are doing in school or the relationships they have with their peers or siblings.
This appointment can be booked by contacting Dr Hardy at pscy.hardy@gmail.com. The appointment also allows the parent to discuss any concerns they might have about potential diagnosis such as ADHD or autism. It provides the opportunity to think about how to respond to these concerns and to consider whether to explore this further.
Following the appointment you may not need any additional sessions but the option of assessment, therapy or accessing another service may be recommended .
Costs
The Psychology Surgery costs £110.00 for an hour session (payable in advance) and includes a short email summary that is sent to the parents after the appointment.
Following The Psychology Surgery appointment additional costings can be provided if further appointments are required and agreed.
